Carney Family Newsletter for June

Happy Summer!
We are half way through June already and summer will fly by so make the most of it!
We have had too much rain here in Michigan and in South Carolina the temperatures and humidity have been brutal. But every once in a while we have a beautiful day like today and I have sheets hanging on the line outside and the porch all ready for a nap on the glider.
Allison just spent 10 days with me so check out the pictures below. I miss her that's for sure.
We have some city events coming up here in Lincoln Park....the annual Cruising Downriver is at the end of the month. I think I will try to get some photos of all the old cars (although I am older than most of them) In mid-July they are having a 50 year celebration to honor the MC5. There will be a dinner on Saturday and on Sunday a concert and tribute at the bandshell. This band was huge in the 70's and they are all from Lincoln Park. There is a lot of history with the Smiths, the poster artist and their manager John Sinclair. Most members are now dead but I was lucky enough to see the singer perform in the 80's.

Watch their live performance of "Kick Out the Jams" from 1969
for adults only

Happy 16th Birthday to Emma!

I know that you had a great birthday Emma and we all send our best wishes to you!
"I wish you bluebirds in the spring to give your heart a place to sing"

The Crash

As everyone has probably heard, a big Cadillac Escalade pulled out in front of John causing a big
crash, totaling John's van. Luckily no one was hurt. John just bought a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The dealership takes your picture with your new car and posts it on their website so here is the whole Mitsuoka family with John's new SUV.

All Around Athlete
Their team placed 1st in this city-wide track event
The speed was enhanced by these lucky superman socks and yellow and orange shoes...they fly!

Liam plays ball for a travel baseball team The Thunder. Below, old grandma with her trusty camera got a good shot of Liam getting this base hit.

Emma's party
The theme was from the movie "The Grand Budapest Hotel" Allison was in town so she got to go the party....good time had by all!

Allison's Visit to Michigan
At Belle Isle
At the DIA
At Greenfield Village
Allison was a perfect house guest. I appreciate all her help with setting up the porch, yard work and the Costco trip (I now have enough bottled water to last the summer). I had fun...it's good to be around young people (or so my doctor tells me)

Any contributions to the newsletter would be greatly appreciated.....email me news and pictures please.
Catch you all in July
