Carney Family Newsletter for April

Special Covid19 Edition

I suppose there will be a day when we look back on this tragedy and say "remember when" but right now, in the midst of it, we are all frightened and frustrated with the events of the each day. Every news broadcast lists the number of deaths, the rising unemployment rate and the daily flubs by our totally incompetent president. In the meantime we are stranded at home, unable to go anywhere other then out for the essentials....no movies, no fun shopping, closed restaurants, libraries, hair salons, car washes and the list goes on. The unfortunate fact that after a month we are still unable to find toilet paper, kleenex, and cleaning products. Of course, every state is different.....some states are slowly opening back up but we here in Michigan have had our stay at home order extended two more weeks. Drove around Belle Isle today and was greeting by this social distancing sign.

Social distancing and masks are now a new normal. In Michigan you must wear a mask when out and about. Everyone, including me, were busy sewing masks (I'm the worst sewer in the the world). Fortunately, masks are now more available.
So our family is muddling through as best we can.
Takeshi and John are not working. Amy is working and the campground is opening up so she will face hundreds of people from all over the country with all their Covid germs.
Tim is out amongst the masses daily praying a spare germ doesn't wiggle in under his mask.
Mike is still working from home but Twin is out collecting germs at Harbor Freight. Mike says when Twin gets home each day she strips down in the garage and he hoses her down with the power washer....lol.
Schools are shut so Emma is home because of no school, no job. Liam made the High School baseball team again this year but no school, no baseball season. He will miss his prom and graduation ceremony and so will Mikey. It's just a sad state of affairs. Allison and Jacob are still working but we all still have the same problem.......what to do with our time?

Masks
It all started innocently enough, everyone trying to come up with a mask design. Here is Mike's first attempt.....burlap and electrical tape. Below he has become desperate and designed a mask to scare the hell out of any approaching germ

Sean has the best mask (provide by the US Marine Corp). It has a hose so you can even have a drink of water.

Grooming

We are getting to the point that everyone needs a haircut and some men have decided to let it all go.
The hairy guys

Treading Water
Strict isolation observed by John, Mikey and Liam.....saved by video games
Knock, knock...are you in there Mikey?
No germs need enter!!
Here's Emma, just hanging out with Noodles hoping that school will open in the fall and she can go on with her life.

....and then there are some that have just gone off the rails and stand on their heads to pass the time. Careful, Jacob and Allison, all the blood will rush to your heads.....lol

On the lighter side....

Join me in wishing Uncle Jim a very Happy Birthday!  39 again Jim?

From the Archives

Is Liam a handsome young man or what?
Ready to graduate and nowhere to go.....things have got to get better soon. Hey, in Michigan you can now play golf....no cart though.

This is me staring blankly at the screen when I get no news from you all. Send me stuff!

Carney Family Newsletter for March

Dance of the Toilet Paper

I don't want to belabor the epidemic that we are facing right now so I won't go on  and on about it. I wanted to get that toilet paper roll to dance across the screen because, let's face it, there is some humor to be found out of this dreadful situation. So much is being disrupted or delayed. Some of our family are not working, no prom, no baseball season, no trip to Japan, and maybe no graduation ceremony. But, we should all be thankful we are well and have toilet paper in the cupboard. Im taking advantage and getting some cleaning done and of course working on some crafting projects.  Hoping that with the warmer weather, we will be back to normal.

Happy Birthday Takeshi

Wishing you the best......from all of us!

 Get Well Soon Emma
Emma is home in Michigan because school and work are closed but she is sick.
Wishing you a speedy recovery Emma.
